This is the drawing for my next, long awaited project. It's been four weeks since my second of two unexpected surgeries. I haven't been able to paint or draw until just a couple of days algo when I drew this freehand image of a squirrel. I'm not up to painting yet but I'm getting there and my plan is to study gouache. I've used the medium before but always the way I used acrylic paints. This time I want to spend this journal/sketchbook learning what I can do with gouache so, I'll move from creature to creature perfecting my skill and experimenting with the application of this paint.
The journal is watercolor paper and I'm painting with Caran D'Ache a gouache palette. The drawing was done with a Dixon Ticonderoga #2 pencil, my first type of pencil and one of my favorites. I've decided I'll so all of the drawing in this book with this pencil but I may used gouache from a tube at some point. I just don't know yet.
